Pack Structure

Your Scout Is a Member of a Den

A den has between 5 and 10 scouts of the same age who work together on age appropriate activities. Den Leaders are responsible for coordinating den activities; however, parents will be called upon to assist as needed. This may mean helping with a den meeting or one of the other den activities, gathering materials for a craft project, or providing snacks. The Den Leader is sometimes assisted by an Assistant Den Leader and/or a Den Chief (an older Boy Scout). The dens are organized by rank. Each year the pack will have one of more of the following dens:

Lion Den - Kindergarten or 5 years old Tiger Den - 1st Grade or 6 years old

Wolf Den - 2nd Grade or 7 years old Bear Den - 3rd Grade or 8 years old

Webelos Den 4th Grade or 9 years old Arrow of Light Den - 5th Grade or 10 years old

Lion and Tiger scouts require an Akela - (this is a scout term for a parent, guardian, or other trusted adult) that remains throughout the den meeting and works together with his/her scout to accomplish their activities. For Wolf, Bear, Webelos and Arrow of Lightand older, a parent is strongly encouraged to attend, participate and assist throughout the meeting.

The den allows Scouts to get to know each other better and engage in activities that would be difficult in Pack meetings. Den meeting activities are planned around monthly themes (based on the core values) and include games, handicrafts, outdoor fun, and taking part in simple ceremonies and songs. Work on advancement requirements is included, but parents are vital helpers in completing requirements for advancement. Advancements are fun with a purpose!

Your Scout Is a Member of a Pack

The pack is made up of several dens. All of the dens will gather on the 2nd Monday of the month for a Pack Meeting typically 60-90 minutes.

Please make every effort to ensure your scout’s attendance at these meetings. Family attendance is encouraged at Pack Meetings. Each Scout should have at least one parent or guardian in attendance at every event, again this is mandatory for Kindergarten & 1st graders.

Since parents/guardians are in attendance at pack meetings, siblings are naturally encouraged to come as well. We ask that non-Scout children sit with their parents/guardians, and that they enforce some general rules of behavior:
