Session 1: How to get 40+ in VCE English?
This will cover all aspects of the new VCE English study design and provide students with the essential knowledge and skills required to ace VCE English. Furthermore, this session is designed to provide necessary tips and techniques that students can use in all the areas of study and with all outcomes in Units 3 & 4. The often-overlooked aspects of VCE English will be discussed so students can go out of this session confident and ready to focus on their English study better. This is a must session for all students in Year 12 in 2018 who are somewhat nervous, unsettled or even focussed yet wanting to know more!
Session 2: How to get an "A" in the Analytical interpretation of a text?
This will largely focus on the ways in which a student can master the written analytical interpretation of a selected text that they are doing now or will do this year in class. For students who have finished this section of their VCE English course, this session will be a means to reflect and fill in the gaps in their skill sets. For those who are grappling with this aspect still, this session will lay for you a foundation on which to start writing with confidence and ease. This session is a must for all students who want to prepare themselves thoroughly for this year’s exam especially the first section of the VCE English paper.
Session 3: 'Nuts & Bolts' of the Comparative Analysis of Texts
This is ideal for students who are overwhelmed with reading and comparing texts and need to organise their ideas and writing for a favourable outcome. This session will mainly focus on knowing what to compare and how to compare texts in their writings. Important tips and strategies will be provided to students so that they are contented when writing their comparative responses.
Session 4: Succeeding with Argument and Persuasive Language - Towards Language Analysis
This will cover the unseen section of the exam paper and the tools needed to navigate persuasive texts. The highlight of this session is the discussion of special strategies for making sense of texts and finding ways to write effective language analysis. Hints will also be given on presenting arguments in the best possible way for a given audience.
