The AZCALL Conference



AZCALL is a one-day conference held each year that brings together computer-assisted language learning enthusiasts from around the state and region to share ideas, network, and receive valuable feedback on scholarly research, academic papers, and major conference presentations which are in progress or preparation.
This year AZCALL Conference theme is the effect of Artificial Intelligence in language learning and pedagogy.

SPEAKERS

Dr. Randall W. Sadler

Dr. Randall Sadler is Professor of Linguistics and Director of the Illinois English as a Second Language (ESL) and Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) Programs. His main research area is on the role of technology in language learning, with a particular focus on how Telecollaboration, VirtualWorlds, and Virtual Reality may be used to enhance that process. He has published in these areas in journals including the Journal of English for Academic Purposes, CALICO Journal, ReCALL, Language Learning & Technology, Computers & Education, ELT, and in numerous edited volumes.

Dr. Jesse Egbert

Dr. Jesse Egbert is an Associate Professor in Northern Arizona University. He specialize in the use of corpus linguistic methods to explore lexical and grammatical variation, with a special focus on online registers and the language of the law. He is also a Founder and General Editor of the international scholarly journal  Register Studies, Technical Strand Editor for Cambridge Elements in Corpus Linguistics, and Series co-Editor for Routledge's Advances in Corpus Linguistics.
