Welcome to Ayyami ("we," "our," or "us"). Ayyami is a cycle tracking and Islamic guidance app designed for Muslim women. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over your data. Please read it carefully before using our app.
By using Ayyami, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Full name
- Email address
- Phone number (optional, used for phone OTP sign-in)
- Password (stored as a secure hash — we never store your plain-text password)
If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from those providers. We do not receive your Google or Apple password.
2.2 Health and Cycle Data
Ayyami is a health app. To provide its core features, we collect and store:
- Menstrual cycle start and end dates and times
- Bleeding type and source (menstrual, post-natal, pregnancy-related, discharge)
- Discharge color and type
- Pregnancy and post-natal tracking events
- Cycle history and classified interval states
This is sensitive health information. We treat it with the highest level of care and do not sell or share it for advertising purposes.
2.3 Onboarding Information
During setup, we collect:
- Whether you are married
- Whether you are pregnant and related details
- Your familiarity level with Islamic cycle rulings (beginner or accustomed)
- Last menstrual period dates
2.4 Prayer and Location Data
If you use our prayer times feature, we collect:
- A location label, latitude, longitude, and timezone that you manually enter
- Prayer reminder preferences
- We do NOT access your device's GPS location automatically
2.5 Profile Information
You may create up to 5 profiles per account (for example, to track cycles for a daughter or other family member). Each profile includes:
- Full name
- Age (optional)
- Relation to account holder
- A chosen colour
2.6 Usage Data
We collect basic technical information to keep the app running:
- Device type and operating system (Android or iOS)
- App version
- Error logs and crash reports (no personal health data is included in these)
2.7 Communications
If you contact us for support, we retain that correspondence.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Provide cycle tracking, Islamic fiqh guidance, and classified cycle states
- Calculate and display prayer times for your saved location
- Send prayer and medicine reminders via push notifications
- Send verification codes and password reset codes by email or SMS
- Maintain your session securely across app restarts
- Restore your data when you reinstall the app or switch devices
- Improve the accuracy and reliability of the app
- Respond to your support requests
We do not use your health data to serve you advertisements.
4. Third-Party Services

We do not sell your data to any of these or other third parties.
5. Data Storage and Security
- Your data is stored on secure servers hosted by Render.
- Passwords are never stored in plain text — they are hashed using scrypt with a random salt.
- Auth session tokens are stored encrypted on your device using the platform's secure storage (Android EncryptedSharedPreferences, iOS Keychain).
- Data is transmitted using HTTPS/TLS encryption.
- We use time-limited, one-time verification codes for email and phone verification.
No system is 100% secure. If we become aware of a security breach that affects your data, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
6. Data Retention
- We retain your account and cycle data for as long as your account is active.
- If you delete your account, we delete your personal information and health data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.
- Anonymised, aggregated data (with no connection to your identity) may be retained for improving the app.
7. Children's Privacy
Ayyami is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and associated data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent** for optional data processing
- Object to certain uses of your data

9. International Users
Ayyami is operated from Pakistan. If you are accessing the app from the European Union, United Kingdom, or other regions with data protection laws, please be aware that your data may be transferred to and processed in countries where different data protection standards apply. By using the app, you consent to this transfer.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by sending a notification through the app. Your continued use of Ayyami after any changes means you accept the updated policy.
