The key to cross-cultural communication is to understand the "differences". In addition to communicating with bosses and subordinates of different ages, you will often be troubled by various differences when communicating with foreigners and organizations of different cultures.
When dealing with foreigners, we tend to impose Japanese culture and customs on them, but this is not the way to have smooth cross-cultural communication. It is natural for people of different countries, genders, and ages to have different backgrounds and thoughts.
In order to avoid problems, it is important to understand and respect the differences between people. Cross-cultural communication can be achieved by learning about each other's cultural differences and having your way of thinking understood.
Attached is a handout showing some of the ideas we learned in class and how I apply the knowledge in my daily life. This course has helped me to develop different cross-cultural concepts. We must understand how to communicate linguistically and non-linguistically when there is diversity in our work place.
