This achievement is related to what I learned in class. This achievement is related to what I learned in class, because I used a questionnaire to conduct a communication audit and analyzed the results to determine the effectiveness of my company's communication. A communication audit is a tool that is used to identify communication issues within a company. It can be used to identify a company's strengths and weaknesses. It can be conducted in a variety of ways. Common methods include questionnaires, interviews, and focus groups. The three steps to conducting an internal communication audit are to review existing research, collect quantitative research, and conduct qualitative research (Bullen, 2013). Through the assignments in the course, I became familiar with the communication dynamics of the organization and was able to pinpoint the communication challenges of the company.
What I present here is the results of a communication audit study based on qualitative research. This study employed a qualitative research method, where a variety of questions were asked to a list of individuals. The survey was conducted by distributing questionnaires. The questions were distributed to employees of Rising Inc. One hundred percent of the questionnaires were completed and the data was tabulated. The purpose of this survey was to identify the structures through which employees could receive information. It also aimed to determine if there was a communication gap between employees and top management.
Through the survey and the questionnaire to the employees, I was able to find out what the organization needed to improve. The results of the survey showed that in order to improve the flow of communication in the organization, we need to pay more attention to the four areas, especially the area of how we send information to others. We uncovered the current situation where people are not communicating their dissatisfaction about their work and working, which is the most important aspect of work.
The communication audit survey covered five areas: receiving information from others, sending information to others, sources of information, timeliness of information, and channels of communication. Based on the survey results, we identified three communication issues in the organization. By graphing the survey results, we were able to measure and narrow down the communication issues within the organization.
