Research

We design and synthesize novel heavy-atom-free organic chromophores by tuning their molecular aromaticity and spin state(s). These chromophores are utilized for light-initiated processes viz., energy transfer, sensitization, photo-biomedical applications, energy upconversion, etc.

We are exploiting novel Photosensitizers (PS) (functionalized with other bio-active/pro-drug molecules) for synergistic photo-biomedical applications, including fluorescence imaging.

We explore the photo-behavior(s) of composite materials, including MOFs, for sensing (of heavy metals), light-harvesting, and photocatalytic applications. It is expected that exciton kinetics could be improved in these composite materials.
