I was born and raised in Bangladesh. From a young age, my parents modeled kindness and compassion to me and my three brothers and sister. My father, who I still look to as my personal hero, was an engineer whose charitable works included building schools for underserved people. He was matched well with my mother, a woman who always went out of her way to help a neighbor in need, no questions asked. If anyone in the neighborhood needed something, they turned to my mother. I consider my mom as the greatest mentor of my life. My parent’s example of empathy and generosity towards all inspires me to this day, and I lead my life with them in mind. I strive to keep my heart open to all people, and to spread that message to everyone I meet.
As a young woman, I enrolled at Dhaka University where I studied Graphics at the Institute of Fine Arts. I later married and moved with my husband to the United States in 1991. He graduated from Texas A&M with a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering. Together we raised our wonderful son, who works as a Business Analyst, and our gorgeous daughter, a student at the University of Texas at Arlington.
I have always had a passion for caring for people and that led me to enroll in Mims Cosmetology College. It fills my heart with joy to be able to help someone get just the right hairstyle or manicure or whatever it may be. It might seem trivial, but when we take the time to invest in our own self-care, it gives us time to unwind and unlock our inner confidence. I have been working as a beautician in various salons since 1995 and have found great contentment in that role, helping to take care of people’s bodies and souls. As a life coach, I hope to further aid people on their personal journey of self-discovery.
