I have decided to pursue a career in the field of engineering. What prompted me to pick a field in engineering was the idea of being able to design and make things that can help other people. I decided that this career field was good for me when I figured out that I was good at math, science, and designing things online.
So far, I have taken a few classes to help me achieve my career choice of engineering and I plan to take more. I have taken math up to Pre Calc and I am currently taking AP Stats, I have taken chemistry and I am currently taking AP Physics, and I have taken Foundations of Computer Science as well as AP computer science. I am in the JFCTC Tech Center program for engineering. So far I have learned valuable math skills, science skills, writing skills from ELA, and presenting skills from all of my classes.
I am on the GMHS baseball team and it has taught me a lot of important lessons. I have learned teamwork because the game of baseball is not a one-person game and it takes a lot of teamwork like working with one another and trusting your teammates to make even a single play. I have learned Leadership skills because Sophomore year I was the JV team captain and that taught me a lot about how to be a leader and to guide people in the right direction. I learned the importance of following directions by listening and doing what my coach said and getting better at whatever I was working on because of that. Lastly, I learned the importance of having a goal and working towards that goal because during the baseball season and even before it I had a goal set in mind and I worked towards it step by step and I got better and better at baseball. I worked towards my goals and I earned the certificate for most improved JV player over the sophomore season and most improver Varsity player in my junior season. This along with other baseball programs I have played in will help me with my career goal choice. I am employed as a busser and Bar-back at the Tiki Bar in Solomon's MD, and I am also a Busser/Togo worker at Outback Steakhouse This job has taught me the importance of working hard and following directions and staying focused in a high paced environment.
Upon graduation from High school, my immediate plans are to attend a 2-year community college and transferring to a 4-Year in order to pursue my career goal in engineering and possibly play baseball for that college or university. My first pick for a college would be UMD. UMD is my first pick for a couple of reasons. It is a very good and esteemed engineering school and it is in state. I also like their baseball program and the cafeteria has food in a buffet style. If I cant get into UMD I would go to CSM community college.
After achieving my career goal I will affect the community and society in which I live by creating and engineering things in the engineering field I choose that will help that community or society to solve local problems and thrive. When I achieve my dream I will make a big impact on the world by helping others with my inventions and solving a lot of problems and have a very positive and big impact on the world.
