Thank you for taking a look at my final portfolio for the Ed.S. in Instructional Technology, Media, and Design degree program at the University of West Georgia. I began this program in January 2022 as a 6th-grade ESOL/ELA teacher and hoped to gain some knowledge to begin a new career and enhance my instruction while I was still in the classroom. At the time, I was still deciding between becoming a media specialist at a school or transitioning out of K-12 into instructional design. I was experiencing a concerning amount of burnout for only three years of teaching and was looking for a more technology-focused position.
Getting another Master’s degree didn’t feel like it would be challenging enough for me to stay motivated. I was considering getting a Ph.D. in the future, so I decided that an Educational Specialist degree would be the perfect challenge while getting a glimpse of doctorate-level coursework. With the help of this program and some outside mentorship, I ultimately set my sights on the instructional design world and began a position as an instructional designer at Priority Technology Holdings in September 2022!
In this position, I work with a team of corporate trainers, other instructional designers, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to create eLearning courses, job aids, videos, games, and other learning materials for the employees at my company. This portfolio showcases some of the hard work that I put in to make that career transition and complete this degree program.
