During my time in high school, I gained some slight work experience through volunteering for the Muslim Community Center, Dublin Little League, Kids Against Hunger program, and volunteering at the Arab Community Culture Center. I did not gain the amount of experience I had hoped to get but I was able to get enough to where I knew how the working environment is. Most of these programs I had done very recently in 2022 April and May except for the Dublin Little League which was when I was a very little kid. When working at either of these programs, you would receive instructions from a manager and follow the tasks that he/she would provide you with and you needed to complete them as soon as you can. I did this and gained a lot of knowledge on how to work faster with efficiency and technique since the tasks given to us required us to be extremely rigorous.
For this volunteering event, I (I am in the red shirt) worked alongside my friends to package 9,936 in 1 hour and 30 minutes to support refugees that were affected by Ukraine and Russia's dispute. This job was very simple and time-consuming. It required us to fill up bags with very precise amounts of soy, rice, vegetables, and vitamins which should have totaled 390-396 grams. Then we would seal the (now filled) bags up and toss them into a bucket to which our managers would begin the process to ship the food out. Overall, this experience was quite eye-opening because it taught me to work with people I did not know to get a job done, I got to find a way to have fun because I was working alongside my friends, and I felt very good because I was able to help other kids in need.
Around a year ago, I had no clue as to what I wanted to do with my life as I was happy just enjoying it. But as I matured, I realized I had to evolve along with the rest of the world. I talked to many college students who got into Ivy League schools and students that went to UCs for advice. But in the end, it was my job to choose. I started by looking at the things I am good at. Recently, I have found a certain interest in online sketching and NFTs. I have signed up for classes on learning how to code and design NFTs and on how to properly make a collection for selling. For example, the image on the right is one of the very first drawings I made using a simple pen and IPad that I made in 2 minutes. I want to work in software/hardware engineering when I grow up and become an expert coder that raises millions in funding for a software company. The reasons for this are that I have been surrounded by people who have also taken an interest in that field and have made a wonderful career and living out of it. I have also decided to take this path because my exposure to software in my early years of life, such as designing video games and repairing TVs, coding, and building Lego blocks; has given me more insight into how technology works and the process of making it. I also want to pursue this path because I want to be the creator of something that the common man uses daily so that I know that I helped the world.
