Background
The Anguilla Non-fiction Literary Competition was proposed by Mr. James Lewis, a returning visitor to Anguilla. Mr. Lewis envisioned the competition capturing the interest of the people of Anguilla, encouraging both the youth and adult population to increase their interest and skill in non-fiction writing, with significant emphasis on Anguilla. The competition will focus solely on non-fiction work and may include but is not limited to forms such as essay, op-ed, memoir, biography and journalism. Fiction genres, story-telling, poetry and folk lore are not eligible.
The Anguilla Non-Fiction Literary Competition will add to the literary landscape, strengthening writing theories being taught in our schools while adding a competitive element whereby authors are able to receive much needed recognition for their work.
The Culture and Arts Division of the Department of Youth and Culture in collaboration with the Anguilla Literary Competition Committee will manage and oversee the Competition.
