What does it mean to surrender your Wirehaired Pointing Griffon to AWPGA Rescue?
Surrendering your Wirehaired Pointing Griffon to AWPGA Rescue (Rescue) means you are relinquishing ownership of your Wirehaired Pointing Griffon to Rescue at no cost to you. The dog can remain in your home and under your care for the entire duration of the rehoming process. However, if the dog cannot remain in your home, Rescue can appoint a temporary foster home from its pre-vetted foster list to care for your dog until it is rehomed.
AWPGA Rescue endeavors to find the most suitable new home for your Wirehaired Pointing Griffon based on its needs within our pre-vetted and breed-experienced applicant pool. You will be kept up to date on the progress of the rehoming process throughout each stage. Rescue may solicit your preliminary feedback on the applicants being considered but the final determination of the dog’s placement rests with Rescue. Taking the uncertainty out of the surrendering process, you will have peace of mind knowing your dog is in a safe and loving home. Rescue does periodic checks on all rehomed dogs.
Please note: Rescue cannot and will not take any Wirehaired Pointing Griffon with a bite history. This generally means the dog has bitten a human or another animal and broken skin.
What does it mean to sign and submit a Surrender Intake Form to AWPGA Rescue?
The Surrender Intake Form is a legally binding contract between the surrendering party and Rescue. With limited exceptions, only the true, legal owner(s) of the dog to be surrendered may fill out and submit the form. Animal Rescue Organizations and/or Shelters may submit the Surrender Intake Form if: (i) the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon was picked up as a stray; (ii) the legal owners surrendered the dog to the organization; or (iii) the legal owners are deceased. Friends, family members or representatives of the legal owners may complete and submit a Surrender Intake Form only if such friends, family members or representatives provide Rescue with written documentation acceptable to Rescue that they have the legal authority to act on behalf of the legal owners in connection with the surrender and relinquishment of rights in and to the dog.
By signing and submitting the Surrender Intake Form, you will be relinquishing to Rescue all rights and interest in and to the dog. Rescue will have exclusive rights to rehome the dog and you must cease all active efforts, advertisements and social media posts soliciting adoption upon submission of the form. Failure to deliver custody of the dog at the time of adoption, misrepresenting ownership of the dog, or any efforts by the surrendering party or friends, family, acquaintances, or representatives of the surrendering party to rehome the dog outside of or parallel to Rescue’s rehoming process will constitute a breach of contract. Such acts will result in liquidated damages in the amount of $130 for which the surrendering party is liable. You acknowledge that such amount is reasonable given the considerable efforts undertaken by Rescue to rehome the dog. You will remain responsible for the care and upkeep of the dog at your expense while it remains in your possession.
How long will it take to rehome my Wirehaired Pointing Griffon?
Rescue strives to make the rehoming to adoption process as streamlined and efficient as possible. Rescue has rehomed dogs within a day, a week, and, in some special cases where adopters with specific requisite experience are needed, a few months. Under no circumstances will AWPGA Rescue transfer a difficult-to-home Wirehaired Pointing Griffon to another Animal Rescue Organization or Shelter. Rather, it works closely with the surrendering party to find a suitable home for the dog.
