Each year, in August, all certified staff are invited to participate in the Sick Leave Pool. By participating, staff are offering to donate one of their sick days to the pool of days. This DOES NOT guarantee your day will be used, but you are offering it if needed. The sick leave pool committee does its best to use days from established teachers in the district with more days to offer first, over newer teachers with fewer days.
As the year progresses, if you get sick, or injured, and will be missing more work than your allotted number of sick days, you can apply to the Sick Leave Pool committee. If approved, you will then be granted up to 10 sick days.
Certified staff must sign up EVERY YEAR to participate in the sick leave pool. If you miss the window, you cannot join later in the year.
