The Association for Women in Mathematics is the national organization for the promotion of equal opportunity and treatment of women in mathematics. AWM is dedicated to empowering women to study and consider pursuing active careers in math. We are the student chapter of AWM at the University of Virginia!
The purpose of AWM at UVA is to foster an environment in which women and girls are able to thrive in their mathematical endeavors within the UVA Department of Mathematics and in the workforce beyond.
Although this organization has members who are University of Virginia students and may have University employees associated or engaged in its activities and affairs, the organization is not a part of or an agency of the University. It is a separate and independent organization, which is responsible for and manages its own activities and affairs. The University does not direct, supervise or control the organization and is not responsible for the organization’s contracts, acts or omissions.
Sign up for the AWM at UVA listserv (uva-awm@virginia.edu) and attend our meetings (5-7PM on every other Thursday, unless otherwise noted on Instagram). Membership is completely free!
