About the Utah Chapter of the Association for Women Geoscientists

(AWG Utah)

The Association for Women Geoscientists is an international organization devoted to enhancing the quality and level of participation of women in geoscience and to introduce girls and young women to geoscience careers.  Students, professionals, retirees, and fans of geology who support AWG's goals are all welcome to join!

Based in Salt Lake City, the chapter was established in 1989 and serves Utah and the surrounding area.  We are motivated to connect, encourage, and expand opportunities for women in the geosciences.  We are proud to have distributed over $85,000 in scholarships since 1994. In addition, we have organized annual networking and fundraising events, including the popular wine tasting social.
