What is a Student's Affidavit?
A student's affidavit in India is a sworn statement that confirms certain information about a student or applicant. It's often used for international students or those who don't have legal guardians or parents who can provide financial or supporting documentation.
Here are some examples of what a student's affidavit might include:
Anti-ragging affidavit: A student might be required to submit an affidavit acknowledging that they've received and understood the University Grants Commission's regulations prohibiting ragging. The affidavit might also include a statement that the student won't engage in any behavior that constitutes ragging.
Admission affidavit: A student might be required to submit an affidavit that states they haven't been expelled or debarred from admission to any institution in the country for ragging. The affidavit might also include a statement that the student's admission is liable to be canceled if the declaration is found to be untrue.
College admission affidavit: A student might be required to submit an affidavit that states they haven't surrendered any seat in past UG exams or other UG entrance exams. The affidavit might also include a statement that the student will notify the relevant authority if they are admitted to a college through another exam conducting body.
An affidavit is only valid when it's made voluntarily and without any coercion.
