FRIDAY'S ROSTER
Get ready for an electrifying showdown as the Apple Valley Sun Devils take on the Eastlake Titans in the opening game of the season! The clash is set to unfold on Friday, August 18th, at 7:00 pm at the iconic Apple Valley High School in the heart of Apple Valley, California. The anticipation is running high as fans eagerly await the collision between these two programs on the gridiron.
Last year's encounter between these teams serves as a reminder of the intensity we can expect. The Sun Devils secured a commanding victory with a score of 42-7, displaying their prowess both offensively and defensively. Senior Quarterback Noah Celie was instrumental in their success, showcasing his precision by completing 19 passes out of 32 attempts for 188 yards and 2 touchdowns. Seniors Aiden Sanchez and Xavier Salazer were the driving force on the ground, combining for 156 yards and each contributing a touchdown. Xavier's stellar performance saw him lead the team with an impressive 119 yards, leaving a significant impact on the field.
The Titans, on the other hand, faced a tough challenge last year. They rotated through three quarterbacks, managing 8 completions on 23 attempts for 95 yards and 1 touchdown. Their ground game struggled, amassing -8 yards on 16 attempts. However, this new season offers a fresh start, and the Titans are determined to show their resilience and potential.
The Apple Valley Sun Devils enter the fray with a reputation to uphold. With an overall record of 8-3 last season and a strong 8-1 performance by their Junior Varsity squad, they are no strangers to success. They've retained 4 starters on offense and 3 on defense, banking on the chemistry that has become their team's strength. While they face the challenge of youth and inexperience, losing four D1 players to graduation, they remain undeterred. The leadership of their top players, including standout Quarterback Noah Celie, the dynamic Wide Receiver Kayden Struebing, and the powerful Offensive Lineman Jonah Leaupepetele, promises to set the tone for a memorable season. Their current ranking at #48 in California reflects their determination to conquer new heights.
The Eastlake Titans are eager to prove their mettle this year. Although they faced a tougher season last year with a 3-8 overall record and a challenging 0-7-1 Junior Varsity performance, they are ready for a resurgence. Their current ranking at #283 in California may not fully capture their potential, as they aim to turn the tables and make a mark this season.
As the anticipation builds and the fans gear up to fill the stands, all eyes will be on the Apple Valley Sundevils and the Eastlake Titans. The first game of the season holds the promise of drama, excitement, and unforgettable moments that will set the tone for the journey ahead. Make sure to be part of this thrilling clash on Friday, August 18th, at 7:00 pm at Apple Valley High School. Let the kickoff festivities begin!
