Motion Capture (MoCap) is the process of recording the movement of objects or people. It has many applications in the military, entertainment, sports, medical applications, robotics, vibrational analysis, etc. It comprises the IR (infrared) source, cameras, the IR reflective markers and the software. The markers reflect IR radiation which is detected and processed by the cameras. This data is sent to the MoCap software via ethernet protocol. The MoCap software uses the data to triangulate the position of rigid body objects on which the IR markers are mounted. The object's motion is tracked by the MoCap system and the position and orientation of the rigid body are obtained.
