I AM

"ENGINEER BY TRAINING, ECONOMIST BY PASSION"

I am associated with Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, China as an Associate Professor in HeXie Management Research Centre. I am a Fellow in Economics from Indian Institute of Management Indore. My research interests include Energy and Environmental Economics, Sustainable Development, and Applied Econometrics. My present research works aim to attain the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a special focus on SDG 13 and SDG 7. Recently, I have started looking into the Dark Side of Innovation, viewing innovation as a tool responsible for tradeoffs in developmental policies. I have developed the Energy Transition Index to measure the nature of energy transition in a country. On the methodological front, I am presently working on the Advanced Quantile Modeling and Decomposition-based Inequality Assessment.

While not teaching or doing research, I love to spend time in my library, which has a rich collection of Bengali Literature. As a trained musician, I am keenly interested in music composition, and my favorite genre is Indian Classical Fusion. Being a trained painter, I also love Psychedelic Sketching, for which I won several awards at the national level. Besides being a bookworm, I am also interested in writing fiction and abstracts in Bengali. I am a member of several literary circles in West Bengal and my Bengali novel R.E.CALL has been a bestseller. As a trained and experienced chef, I specialize in several forms of cuisine, starting from Middle Eastern cuisine to continental, from traditional Mughlai cuisine to authentic Bengali cuisine. But above all else, I love spending quality time with my wife Tanaya and my kid Prithwiraj.
