Avicenna National Hospital, will be the largest underground hospital in Idlib. The Hospital is expected to be patient ready by Late 2018. Thanks to the hardworking team on the ground and our generous supporters, we have finished construction of the underground floors! We are now focusing on stocking the hospital with furniture and medical equipment. Simulation equipment is arriving at Avicenna, this will allow Avicenna Providers to practice new surgical skills to improve their clinical knowledge and improve quality and safe patient care.
"The hospital is also partnering with Brown University to increase the capacity of local nurses and doctors through a telehealth program. The Humanitarian Innovation Initiative at Brown will help train staff in Idlib, facilitate consultations between U.S. doctors and Syrian doctors and will potentially allow collaboration on cases in real time. Since many specialists are no longer in the country, this program allows the more generalist medical staff to receive additional training and help with complex cases."
