Program Overview:
NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS) is a program that introduces community college students to NASA directorates, mission planning, and aerospace research. It involves three missions, two virtual and one in-person at a NASA field center.
Mission 1 was a 5-week online course, introducing NASA directorates, and teaching us about the history of NASA and its missions. In this mission, I created an infographic (shown on left) about Space Operations Mission Directorate.
Mission 2 was a 5-day course, where teams of 10 participated planned a top level Mars mission in a gamified setting. My team chose to plan a human Mars mission, built around establishing a habitat on the Mars surface, and evaluating the risks associated with this plan. Our final deliverable was a research poster (shown on left), which was presented to NASA professionals.
In Mission 3, we were tasked with researching a solution to a key problem in the Advanced Air Mobility industry. My team focused on enhancing consumer enterprise with our solution.
Our solution revolved around improving the energy infrastructure in place for drones. The goal was to provide an energy infrastructure of conductive charging panels, aiding drone delivery services. A draft proposal was written (included on left), and a presentation was presented to NASA professionals at Armstrong Flight and Research Center.
