This was my first ever award-winning package, all the way back when I was a sophomore. This package was so much fun to put together. I loved interviewing everyone and watching the process of what it takes to build a tiny house. While it is definitely not my best, it helped me grow as a journalist.
This was another award-winning package of mine that I am extremely proud of. Right before I worked on this package, my broadcast journalism teacher instated a rule that every package had to start with nat-sound. I struggled to figure out how I could do that and still have it flow well into my stand-up. However, when I saw the B-roll of the curtain opening I knew it was perfect. I am definitely glad that my teacher pushed me to include nat-sound because it greatly elevated my story. This was also at a time when my school was not letting students do in-person interviews. This posed the great challenge of getting interviews that looked good, and that was actually received in time to air the story. This story taught me to be persistent and to always think outside of the box.
This was my second package of the 2021-2022 school year and it was rough to produce. Rules and procedures given by the district changed halfway through me producing the story, so I then had to change my script and interviews. Overall, even though it was rushed, I still turned a good story.
This was my very first story of the 2021-2022 school year. It was my first time doing in-person interviews in a year, and with a different camera. I had not learned how to properly work the camera yet and my interviews came out blurry. If I were given the chance to redo this story I would make sure to double and triple check if my video is in focus.
This is my first (and so far only) sports media package. My teacher wanted me to branch out in the topics I covered and I'm glad she did. This was another story where I had trouble with interviews being in focus. But instead of just going with it, I was able to reshoot the interview. (Story starts at 6:30).
This was possibly one of my favorite stories to get B-roll for. I was able to visit a local radio station for the video. This story helped me see what real life will be like as an actual reporter, not just a student.
