Hello! My name is Ava Johnson and I am a third year student majoring in Nutrition and Dietetics Services at the University of Cincinnati. Here, I am apart of the University Honors Program and am in the Accelerated Dietetics Nutritionist Program - a selective program that will allow me to receive my Bachelors and Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics as well as complete the needed internship service hours to qualify me for the state RD exam in just five years.
I am very passionate about my major and making a difference in the world. I hope to learn more about the world as a whole, different cultures, and health through my time here at UC. With my major, I hope to work in female health and hormones, specifically around pregnancy, since this is a very important nutritional time. I also want to spread the message of body positivity and food neutrality. I struggled with an eating disorder for a majority of my life, and struggle with hormone health due to different factors, and through all of this I discovered my passion for Nutrition and Dietetics. Overall, I would love to aid people in learning that food is medicine and should not be feared!
In my personal life, I am extremely family centered and try to lead my life with love and compassion towards everyone and everything. I am the oldest daughter of two younger siblings and have wonderful parents. I love them with all my heart. My parents raised me Catholic and taught me that love is the most important thing in this world and to spread it wherever I go. With those teachings, I lead my life with love and truly hope to influence other people to do the same. I believe the world needs more love and compassion for each other, ourselves, and the environment.
