Autophagy Lab

Our Research is focused on understanding the process of autophagy in mammalian system. Our lab aims at elucidating membranes sources for biogenesis of autophagosomes during various stress conditions. We are also interested in studying the relationship between autophagy and lysosomal system and interdependence of lysosomal system on autophagy and vice versa. Apart from this, we study the role of autophagy in progression of colorectal carcinoma and breast cancer, one of our major gaols is to investigate the role of autophagy in conferring resistance to chemotherapies against colorectal and breast cancers. Our experimental models include cancer cell lines and organoids derived from cancer patients. We use a variety of microscopy techniques, flow cytometry and several unbiased approaches like Mass-spectrometry, RNASeq and metabolomics.
