What is the Autism Acceptance Walk?
The Autism Acceptance Walk is a school-wide, student-led celebration of inclusion, belonging, and community. Our students walk to promote autism acceptance and to show that all abilities matter. This event brings together students, staff, families, and community partners to celebrate and support one another.
When is the walk?
The walk will take place during the school day on April 16, 2026.
What is the walking schedule?
To ensure safety and organization, students will walk by grade bands:
PreK to Grade 2: 12:10 PM to 12:50 PM
Grades 3 to 5: 1:00 PM to 1:40 PM
Grades 6 to 8: 1:45 PM to 2:30 PM
The first group will begin walking promptly at 12:10 PM.
When should community partners arrive?
Community partners should plan to arrive by 11:30 AM to allow time for check-in and table setup before students begin arriving.
Where will the event take place?
The walk will take place at Pittsburgh Langley Prek-8, on the front lawn. Community partner tables will be set up in designated areas at the finish line.
Who can participate?
All students and staff will participate during their scheduled walking time. Families and invited guests are welcome to attend and cheer on our students.
What will community partners be doing?
Community partners will host informational tables, provide resources, offer interactive activities, and help create an engaging and supportive environment for students and families.
What should students wear?
Students are encouraged to wear autism acceptance shirts, school spirit wear, or blue to show their support.
What is the purpose of this event?
The purpose of this event is to promote autism acceptance, strengthen inclusive school culture, encourage student leadership, and celebrate all abilities within our school community.
