History
Our Autism Walk was inspired by a community Autism Awareness event hosted by our school social worker in her own neighborhood during the month of April. Seeing families, neighbors, and community members come together in support of individuals with autism sparked the idea to bring that same spirit of awareness, acceptance, and unity to our school community at Pittsburgh Langley. What began as an inspired idea has since grown into an annual school-wide tradition. The walk was created to celebrate students of all abilities, promote understanding, and build meaningful connections between our school and the broader community. Each year, the Autism Walk continues to grow in participation and impact, bringing together students, staff, families, community partners, and local leaders to stand together in support of autism acceptance and inclusion.
Our Impact
"Autism awareness is extremely important, not only for those directly affected, but as a society as a whole. The importance of Autism Awareness is essential for fostering inclusion, improving early diagnoses, and assuring individuals with Autism get the support and services that they need. I am proud to foster and support Autism Awareness in our courts, and in our daily actions."Â
-District Judge Nicholas C. Martini
