This page is dedicated to the tool room and the full-time staff who does an outstanding job of coordinating every student with the needed tools and process in which to get the grants and funding for tools and a toolbox as to ensure a well-rounded education which increases the student success rate to finish the program and promote good work habits to become a productive member of society with a successful career.
When the automotive building was designed and constructed in the early 1970's, the tool room was on the west-center-side of the building. Somewhere along the way it was moved over to the northeast side of the building. This could have been due to the fact that the space it moved to has a high-bay which allowed for easier deliveries.
Shown here is what you would have seen as you opened the door into the tool room; the long service counter guarding the 4 rows of tools. The farthest row to the east is the administration row where file cabinets, desks, computers, and so on are with the high-bay mentioned above (not shown here). The northwest corner has a doorway leading to a smaller room filled with needed tools and accessories.
Where did it all go?
During the temporary relocation, the tool room moved from that east side spot w/the high-bay across the campus street to the Technology Buildings' (TEC) double-length drive-in paint booth.
Watch the transformation of space in a matter of weeks to be temporarily relocated for a matter of months. What will it take to get it set-up after construction of the remodel into the New Automotive Building (NAUT)?
Tool room on the right side, storage room on the left. The general contractor demolished the wood shelves that are shown.
Below shows tool room on the left and the storage room on the right side towards the back.
The tool room will be temporarily housed in this double-long paint booth.
To prepare the space, we replaced the metal drain screen with a solid metal sheet
Put in a heater
Added power & data for the staff
Moved the reception desk over from ABR
