Franziska "Frances" Ruhland of Untergrafenried and Michael Gruber of Prosdorf were married Aug. 20, 1872 in Buffalo, New York:

They had 11 children. By 1874, they were living in Sauk County, Wisconsin, and farmed in Bear Creek Township near Plain, Wisconsin.
Frances was buried April 13, 1925, at the old St. Luke Catholic cemetery in Plain. On Feb. 17, 1931, she was disinterred and reburied in the new St. Luke Cemetery where Michael was buried.
