CC and Regina Yin, together with like-minded civic leaders founded the Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association (APAPA) in 2001 to empower the API community. The founders of APAPA were responding to an alarming lack of API representation at all levels of government in California and throughout the United States.
Since its founding, APAPA has achieved a local and national presence with close to 20,000 members and 21 chapters in California, Nevada, Washington D.C., New York, Florida, Massachusetts and Texas. APAPA has provided hundreds of scholarships and internships throughout the country at the local, state and national levels, registered and educated thousands of API voters, and hosted regular town hall meetings, forums and media programs around the country. Together with many other organizations and individuals, APAPA has helped increase the numbers of API leaders in elected and appointed California government by three times.
