Quests are prompts for art and/or writing that encourage the development of a Phelion's character and/or story, often but not necessarily with rewards.
Most quests will involve multiple prompts, and may require art + writing or a comic. In some cases, you may request/commission others to fill an art prompt, but writing and comic prompt fills must be made by you. Some quests can be repeated with different characters.
It is recommended to have the quests completed by a Phelion be indicated on their TH profile, with links to access the completed entries. Quest completions are only valid for the owner who completed them; if the Phelion is transferred they will lose progress. Completed quests will also be indicated on the ML.
To participate in quests, you must join the Auspicium Discord server. This is so that you can submit to the Phelion Quest/Prompt Submissions of species-submissions forum of the Discord server.
The Starter Quest is for initial development of a Phelion; you may take that quest once for each Phelion you own.
General Quests may be random prompts or such unrelated to the major Phelion story.
The Story Quests, with their own page, are quests involving an overarching plotline for the Phelion species. They take place at particular times in the timeline and may have particular requirements.
Many prompts follow standard requirements, offering a choice between art, a comic, or writing:
The piece must be clean artwork, though rougher artstyles are acceptable so long as the piece does not look incomplete. Requirements:
fully colored
A full background with a decent amount of detail. The environment should be identifiable and there should be a clear middleground where the characters are; the foreground and background areas can be simple and/or blurred.
Shading is not required.
For one character: fullbody or almost, allowing for artistic cropping. For two or more, characters should be halfbody or more.
It must have at least eight uniquely drawn scenes/panels including the character as at least a headshot. Copypasting with minor edits doesn't count, but backgrounds can be reused.
Quality:
It should have at least some different shade values. If it is monochrome, different grays can be used to indicate different objects/colors, for instance.
It does not need to be shaded and it does not need to be clean; the panels may be drawn as sketches.
If panels are done in clean color (no shading necessary), only four unique panels are required.
Full backgrounds are not required but environments should be made as necessary to get a sense of where they are.
You are welcome to draw extra panels that do not meet quality requirements as necessary for the narrative.
Write a minimum 1000 word excerpt.
The Starter Quest is a series of prompts for initial development of a Phelion.
You can only use a Phelion for the Starter Quest once. If a previous owner completed a Starter Quest, you may complete another to redevelop the character.
Every prompt fill must be posted publicly (i.e. Tumblr, Deviantart, etc.) with a link back to the quest page or the species page. If these options are not available, I may accept Toyhou.se, but you must ask first.
Previously created art and writing can be used for the quest, if they have not been used for a quest before.
This Quest follows Standard Requirements.
Qualification of your Phelion for Story Quests and certain Event Quests
A total of 300 credits ▮, 100 for each part.
Who was your Phelion? What kind of person were they before they became something beyond humanity?
Design what your Phelion looked like when they were human. It must be at minimum a fairly clean colored sketch, at least shoulders up. You may commission someone else or use Picrews for this part only. If the image is not fullbody, please describe their build and what clothing they might typically wear.
Next, give a glimpse into the sort of life your character lived as a human. Perhaps illustrate a typical scene for them, or a usual activity. You may create artwork, a comic, or writing as per the requirements in the rules.
You must submit your entry in the Phelion Quest/Prompt Submissions of species-submissions forum of the Discord server with the following form:
[Starter Quest Part 1: Absorption]
Phelion Used: (profile link or image link if not available)
Human Design: (+ any written info as necessary)
Entry: (link or attach image(s)/writing)
Auspice or a mod will approve the entry, after which you may proceed.
When or how did they discover they could be a Phelion, or what were their early days like with such knowledge?
Did they discover strange abilities? Did another Phelion find them? Did an Aphel attack them? Alternatively—what was it like for them to realize they were a Phelion? To join the Academy? What was their life like after they joined? Create an entry illustrating or describing a relevant moment. You may create artwork, a comic, or writing as per the requirements in the rules.
You must submit your entry in the Phelion Quest/Prompt Submissions of species-submissions forum of the Discord server by replying to your previous part with the following form:
[Starter Quest Part 2: Integration]
Entry: (link or attach image(s)/writing)
Auspice or a mod will approve the entry, after which you may proceed.
Who are they now?
You must provide what roles and divisions your Phelion is in. Note that the Didact role has a separate quest.
Next, make a piece of your character as a Phelion. It can be general artwork or something capturing a moment of their present life, or at least a moment after they have settled into life as a Phelion. You may create artwork, a comic, or writing as per the requirements in the rules.
You must submit your entry in the Phelion Quest/Prompt Submissions of species-submissions forum of the Discord server by replying to your previous part with the following form:
[Starter Quest Part 3: Mergence]
Roles:
Entry: (link or attach image(s)/writing)
Auspice will approve the final entry.
The Development Quest is a quest involving filling out the Development Form for your Phelion.
The Phelion used for this quest must not have been used for a Development Form reward previously.
After the quest is complete, the information should be put on the TH profile somehow. It can be freely altered and shifted around, but the profile should not be empty.
100 credits ▮
You must fill out the following form:
Phelion Name:
Gender: (optional)
Pronouns:
Dates: (e.g. year of birth, year of first Shift. Can be approximate. Note that the "present" is 200 years into the future, i.e. 2200s, and they must have been alive as a normal human by approximately 2040 - so around 100 years old at 2040 at most.)
Height: (Note that Phelions often increase in height from their human height, but by no more than three feet. You can mention both human and Phelion height, but at least do the Phelion height.)
Roles: (Resident, Student, Qualified, and/or Didact)
Primary Division: (Defense, Research, and/or Exploration)
Qualifications: (Defense, Research, and/or Exploration)
(Minimum 100 words)
(No minimum. You can briefly discuss what Phelion abilities they are better or worse at, for instance. You can also make a note of their personal talents.)
(Minimum 200 words, no upper limit. Can involve other existing Phelions if you wish, yours or others' with permission. You can consider life before the Academy, their journey of getting qualifications, their experience of achieving mergence, etc. If this is your second Phelion onwards, they can be Aphel-touched if you wish—see the Aphel Encounter quest.
(Optional. You can design what they looked like previously as a human and/or how they look now when they shift back to base form. See the Base Form section of the Design Guide.)
For examples to look at for character development, you can look at Auspice's Phelions, such as Aleiren, Orvis, and Calla.
You must submit your entry in the Phelion Quest/Prompt Submissions of species-submissions forum of the Discord server with the following form:
[Development Quest]
Phelion: (profile link; must be viewable by Auspice)
Entry: (link or attach image(s)/writing; please use a Google Doc with comment permissions for the writing unless you have reason not to)
Auspice will review, potentially adding lore feedback along the way. If they approve, you must add the Development content to their profile. Please reply to their approval once you have added it, and then they will add the rewards to your account.
The Aphel Encounter is a short quest you can take to get an Aphel-touched trait on your Phelion.
The Aphel-touched are those who have survived a brief connection to the Aphel hivemind. Those who do often have an instinctive sense of approaching Aphel attacks, but also may be influenced by the Aphel hivemind on occasion with generally weak effects: they may be put into a brief defenseless daze during an Aphel invasion as the will presses on them, and they may occasionally experience episodes of something like dissociation as they feel the echoes of the hivemind. There is special mental training that some might go through to turn the effect on Aphels, using their connection to briefly paralyze those nearby. This is difficult and can easily result in the opposite happening, however.
You must own at least two Phelions.
You have not completed this Quest before; there is a soft limit of one Aphel-touched Phelion that can be acquired through this quest.
Previously written history can be used; i.e. if you have some backstory already and want to work the Aphel encounter into it.
After completion of the quest, the backstory should be put on their profile. It can be modified later.
Aphel-touched trait on your Phelion, in addition to eligibility for any quests requiring an Aphel-touched Phelion.
Write a brief backstory of your Phelion that includes the Aphel encounter resulting in a touch to the Aphel hivemind. The minimum word count is 200 words, and you can include as much of the rest of your Phelion's backstory as you wish.
Remember that to become Aphel-touched, an Aphel must attempt to absorb the Phelion's fragments, which usually occurs after severe incapacitation, leaving them unconscious or nearly so. The Aphel could fail, which usually requires the intervention of another, or they could succeed and the former Phelion is left hanging by a thread to life. They will then usually only recover by reintegrating with new fragments, but it can leave them changed.
You must submit your entry in the Phelion Quest/Prompt Submissions of species-submissions forum of the Discord server with the following form:
[Aphel Encounter]
Phelion: (profile link; must be viewable by Auspice)
Backstory: (Paste or link to Google Doc with comment permissions)
Auspice will approve the entry. Please add the lore to your Phelion's profile and then reply to Auspice; after this, your Phelion will officially be Aphel-touched.
The Aphel Extraction Quest you can take to get a Fallen and/or Arisen trait on your Phelion. These are individuals who have experienced all their fragments being successfully extracted by an Aphel.
The base form of your Phelion must be designed, with a full-body reference. You can make it yourself, commission Auspice, or commission someone else.
You can complete just Part 1 for the Fallen trait, or both parts for the Arisen trait.
Previously written history can be used; i.e. if you have some backstory already and want to work the Aphel encounter into it.
After completion of the quest, the backstory should be put on their profile. It can be modified later.
You can complete this Quest for as many of your Phelions as you want, but only once for each Phelion.
Part 1: Fallen trait on your Phelion.
Part 2:
Fallen trait becomes Arisen trait on your Phelion.
100 credits ▮
Write a brief backstory of your Phelion that includes the Aphel encounter resulting in their fragments being extracted. The minimum word count is 200 words, and you can include as much of the rest of your Phelion's backstory as you wish.
Please be sure to review the lore on the Fallen.

Year of Extraction: (you can refer to the Phelion timeline)
Backstory: (Paste or link to Google Doc with comment permissions)
Auspice will approve the entry. Please add the lore to your Phelion's profile; after this, your Phelion will officially be Fallen.
You must do the following:
Write a brief backstory of your Fallen that describes how they reintegrated with fragments and achieved mergence once more. The minimum word count is 200 words, and you can include as much of the rest of your Phelion's backstory as you wish. The form will require a few additional fields; see below.
Provide the design of the Arisen form. You must include both ML image and reference image (see Design Update info). Please upload them to the TH, but put [Pending Approval] in the image description. You have the following options:
Use the exact same design.
Design it yourself.
Edit official Phelion design by Auspice. Do not modify and replace the original official image, but you can make edits and upload a new image. You are permitted to make minor edits (changing colors, adding/changing some elements of the design, etc.) to Phelion ML and reference artwork made by Auspice.
Commission Auspice through any of the Credit Store acquisition methods.
Create an entry involving your Phelion throughout the process of their Fall and Rise, whether it is the moment of their Fall, their time under medical care or as a Fallen, their process of reintegrating and achieving mergence, and/or their experience as an Arisen. Auspice will approve the entry. Please add the lore to your Phelion's profile and then reply to Auspice, after this, your Phelion will officially be Arisen.
The Didact Qualification is a quest you can take to get a Didact role for your Phelion.
Didacts are instructors, overseers, and mentors to other Phelions. They must be qualified in the subject they teach, in addition to undergoing some additional training and procedures. Instructors teach courses, overseers handle and watch over practical exercises, and mentors personally guide the education of another Phelion; there may be some overlap, such as someone who is an instructor for a practical Defense course. There can be informal mentorships from non-didacts as well, but these do not count towards a qualification.
The Phelion used for this quest must have completed the Starter Quest or the Development Quest.
Note: if you want to include Didact lore in your Phelion's Development form, you should complete the Starter Quest first.
Didact role on your Phelion, in addition to eligibility for any quests requiring a Didact.
Your Phelion will be added to the official Phelion Didact Profiles sheet.

The Creature Form Training quest is a quest you can complete to get a permanent/official creature form for your Phelion. This form can be used for official activities such as quests and prompts. You can have multiple permanent creature forms for the same Phelion, but you must take the quest multiple times.
Note: Phelions can take temporary creature forms without this quest; they are generally quite uncomfortable, like holding a difficult stretch, and only last for a few minutes. Through training with a particular form by remaining in that form as long as possible and getting used to living in that form, they can extend the amount of time they can remain in that form. This will involve being quite exhausted whenever the transformation is released, and several hours (a day at first, shortened as training goes on) are generally needed to recover before they try again.
With about a week of training, it is possible to extend the sustained duration to about a day, and recovery time is shortened to around 12 hours (that is, if they held the form for an entire day or did not shift back to their regular form without enough recovery time in between, they would need half a day to recover before turning back again). Further improvement is summarized below:
Stage 1:
Training Time: 1 week
Form Duration: 1 day
Recovery Period: 12 hours
Stage 2:
Training Time: 1 month
Form Duration: 1 week
Recovery Period: 6 hours
Stage 3:
Training Time: 3 months
Form Duration: 1 month
Recovery Period: 3 hours
Stage 4:
Training Time: 1 year
Form Duration: 3 month
Recovery Period: 1 hour
Note that even with Stage 1, the form can be functionally permanent if the Phelion shifts back to their main form often, as it is only if they are sustaining the form that they will hit the limit. At any stage, the form is no longer uncomfortable until the last half hour or so of their limit.
During training, the Phelion should shift back to the creature form not long after their recovery is complete, or else it will take much longer. This is allowed, but you should make note of it if you want for it to be the case. Progress made from training is permanent and will not be lost even if the Phelion does not return to their creature form for long periods of time; they can even take a break in their training if they want. It will just take longer due to lost momentum.
The Phelion must be owned by you.
Permanent/official creature form for your Phelion, which you can use for prompts and quests. The creature form will be added to the Creature Forms gallery of the species.
100 credits ▮
There are two parts: the design and the entry.
You may commission/ask someone else to make the design, or do it yourself. It must be clean and fully colored, using the same color palette as the Phelion. Shading and background are optional.
The array and tendrils must be present. It can closely resemble their main form, or you can have more freedom with the shapes.
You must also provide a minimum 60-word excerpt explaining the process of their training and reasoning behind going through the effort of training their creature form, and what stage of training they got to. As an example:
"Cobalt first took her creature form to mirror her alien friend Aether, but she found that she greatly enjoyed being in that form despite its physical discomfort and decided to train in order to maintain it. He spent many of his explorations in his creature form alongside his friend, who would stand guard over him whenever he needed to recover. In time, she was able to reach Stage 3 of training that form, and now freely changes forms as she pleases."
You must submit your entry in the Phelion Quest/Prompt Submissions of species-submissions forum of the Discord server with the following form:
[Creature Training Quest Part 1: Design]
Phelion: (profile link; must be viewable by Auspice)
Excerpt: (you can paste directly)
Design: (link or attach image)
Auspice will approve or defer the entry. If it is approved, you must then upload the image to your Phelion's TH gallery and request that it be added to the Creature Forms gallery; you can do this by adding a character to the image with ID 16706954.
You must create a work involving your Phelion in their creature form or training for it. This part follows the Standard Requirements.
You must upload this part on some public platform, such as dA, Tumblr, Bluesky, or Toyhou.se (publicly viewable).
Please submit your entry in the Phelion Quest/Prompt Submissions of species-submissions forum of the Discord server as a reply to your previous part with the following form:
[Creature Training Quest Part 2: Entry]
Entry: (link to public entry; optionally attach file)
Auspice will approve or defer the entry.
The Qualifying Exam is a quest you can complete to explore how your Phelion achieved their qualifications. Please be sure to read the lore on roles and divisions, as well as courses and qualifications.
The Phelion used for this quest must have completed the Starter Quest or the Development Quest.
You must specify which division the quest entry is for.
You can complete this quest once per Phelion per division; though you can freely add and remove division qualifications to your Phelion while you are developing them, once you complete the Qualifying Exam quest for a division, it is considered canonized and their qualification for that division should not be removed.
250 credits ▮
You must complete two parts:
Part 1 — Story: synopsis
Part 2 — Exam: artwork, comic, or writing according to the Standard Requirements.
What kinds of courses did your Phelion take—structured classes, unrestricted independent studies, internal courses, external courses? How long were they a student for this qualification? Who did they have as advisor(s)? What was the content of their qualifying exam?
Your entry should explore all these questions.
Minimum 600 words, no maximum.
A summary/synopsis format is recommended, but you can include narrative/dialogue elements. If you choose to use a narrative format, you still must address all the above questions.
You are encouraged to collaborate with others and involve other Phelions who are Didacts—you can see who they are in the Masterlist and read about them in the Didact profiles sheet.
Please submit your entry in the Phelion Quest/Prompt Submissions of species-submissions forum of the Discord server with the following form:
