LAUSD Beyond the Bell

I was selected to participate in this paid internship during my junior and senior years of high school. Before I even started working on the campus, I was required to complete a 30-hour virtual work readiness training. This process taught me about professionalism, financial literacy, and how to hold a good interview. 

On-site, I worked with students aged 5-10, keeping them engaged with the program while supporting their creative and academic development. My coworkers and I would organize activities to keep up engagement, and I got to help choreograph the dance number for our Beyond the Bell dance team. Aside from working with the students, I would communicate with the parents at pick-up to keep them informed of any upcoming events. Additionally, I would perform tasks for my supervisor, such as organizing the storage unit and helping to file and manage the students' documents and data. 

I really enjoyed my experience in this position, as it taught me patience, organization, leadership, and positivity. The skills I gained are very easily adapted to any future career setting.
