BRIEF HISTORY OF AURORA, ISABELA
By virtue of Executive Order No. 139 signed on May 12, 1948 by His Excellency President Elpidio Quirino of the Philippine Commonwealth and which took effect on July 3 of the same year, when the municipal district was converted into a regular municipality, Andres S. Cammayo was appointed Municipal Mayor until 1957 when the formal conduct of a general election was held. It was during the leadership of Mayor Cammayo that a law passed by the Philippine National Assembly changing the name of the Municipal District of Bolinao to Aurora in honor of Doña Aurora Aragon Quezon, the First Lady of His Excellency Manuel L. Quezon, President of the Commonwealth.
Aurora as the name implies is the dawn of a new-day - a new hope – a beginning of a bright day. The name of Aurora is most appropriate for its strategic location as the first municipality in the Mallig Plains when one comes from the southern direction. It is therefore the “Gateway to the Mallig Plains.”
The present status of the small but progressive town is mostly inhabited by Ilocanos, Tagalogs, Pangasinenses, Ibanags, Pampangos, Bicolanos, Visayas, Chinese, Bombays and others who have contributed much to the conglomeration of rich values, traditions and culture which every Auroranian is to be proud of. Since the creation of the municipality of Aurora as a regular municipality in July 3, 1948, the following Local Chief Executive was appointed/elected to governed the municipality.
