Dream Girls was my first time working in community theater and it was my first time working with people older than me. I had to learn how to talk to people as a colleague; not a student. This experience will help me as a teacher because this was the first time outside of a student environment and I had to adapt.
The Exonerated was challenging for so many reasons; we had to learn how to do theatre online, we used multiple platforms for communication, and we were hit by the winter storm during tech and that carried into our performance dates. This experience was chaotic but we collaborated so well on this show that despite all the challenges we were able to put on the show.
Tartuffe has been my favorite show I have ever stage managed. I didn’t learn anything I didn’t already know about stage management during this show but I learned a lot about myself. Two weeks before Tech started I lost my little brother and on the inside I was a mess. I was asked multiple times if I needed to get off of the show but I said no. I didn’t say no because I felt pressured. I said no because at time where I felt so sad I knew the one place I’d be the happiest was in the theater.
