Purpose and Project Description:
This capstone in theory development and education was intended to explore occupational therapy theory development and OT student education within the realm of International Service Learning, or ISL. To further explore my interests and career goals to enter academia, I incorporated themes of occupational justice and science throughout my model development to increase knowledge base in the subject matter. Through this 14-week engagement with International Service Learning, I was able to begin thinking about how to build a model of practice, and penned the Summit Model, with relevant examples to my ISL experience.
