Project 1: Review
The review project was my favorite out of all the projects. Although I was passionate about both subjects, Sleep Token and animal testing, I think everyone can agree that animal experimentation is harmful to animals. Sleep Token is a much more niche subject, and I feel many people have never heard of the band. Not only did I want to express why I am such a fan, but I wanted to entice the reader into listening to them and form their own opinion. The band is so much more than just their music, as they have an entire lore behind them, and they even created their own alphabet; that takes a tremendous amount of creativity. I achieved this by explaining the band’s background rather than reviewing the music itself. I included a video of my favorite song so the audience could easily listen as soon as they finished reading the article. The most challenging part of the project was organizing all the information. There is not a clear chronology to the band’s music or their story, however, it was necessary to order everything so that it was easy to follow. Personally, I would not change anything I did in this project. I took my time researching and editing the paper. Compared to the other two projects, I feel as if it was my best work.
Project 2: Literary Analysis
The annotated bibliography project was a bit tedious. However, I referred to it multiple times when writing the research proposal. It gave me easy access to information. Rather than going through pages and pages of notes, I was able to pinpoint what sources contained what I was searching for. I believe this project was more of a tool for myself rather than geared towards a specific audience. The most difficult part of the project was deciding what information to include. Even though I was summarizing, I still wanted to include fact-based evidence to reinforce my claim that animal experimentation is unnecessary and cruel. I am indifferent about the project and my performance. I would have liked to have given myself more time to complete it, as it feels rushed. However, I do not think it was executed poorly. It was a simple project with simple guidelines, and I feel as if I completed it within those guidelines.
Project 3: Proposal
The research proposal was by far the most difficult project. Not only was the research aspect difficult, but formatting was a huge challenge for me. Many sources that I used were corporate webpages, with no author listed. The intext citations were confusing, and I had to research the format for every single source. Another challenge I faced was only giving the necessary information to get my point across. The statistics made it easier, however, I wanted to give the reader more information than I felt was permitted in the proposal. I learned quite a few things that I could have gone without knowing, but the point of the paper was to bring light to the horrible torment these animals endure. If I had more time to complete the project, I would have edited it more thoroughly. I feel as if the language used is very elementary compared to the subject and my past projects. My favorite part of the project was learning how many alternatives actually exist. We are led to believe that animal testing is a necessary evil for medical advances, when in reality it is not. Over the last few decades our technology has progressed substantially, and it seems frivolous that animal experimentation is still common practice.
