AudioMode is designed with privacy in mind.
The app does not require an AudioMode account, does not include advertising and does not use your listening activity to create advertising profiles.
This Privacy Policy explains what information AudioMode processes, where that information is stored and when network requests may be required.
AudioMode stores information necessary to provide its features.
This may include:
content added to your library;
original links you save;
podcast and audio metadata;
listening progress;
your Up Next queue;
favourites;
completed and archived items;
followed podcasts;
bookmarks and bookmark notes;
playback preferences;
downloaded audio;
information used to detect new podcast episodes;
information used to associate content with a podcast;
limited state used by AudioMode widgets and app extensions.
This information is primarily stored locally on your device.
AudioMode does not require you to create an AudioMode account.
AudioMode does not ask for or store usernames or passwords for third-party podcast, video or streaming services.
AudioMode does not contain advertising.
AudioMode does not include third-party advertising trackers.
AudioMode does not sell your personal information.
Your listening history, favourites, bookmarks, queue and playback activity are not used to build advertising profiles.
Some AudioMode features require access to the internet.
The app may make network requests to:
retrieve podcast RSS feeds;
retrieve publicly available podcast metadata;
identify a podcast from a shared link;
check for new podcast episodes;
obtain artwork;
obtain chapter information;
stream supported audio;
download supported audio for offline listening;
resolve a shared podcast, video or web link to a compatible public podcast or audio source.
A normal internet request may expose technical information such as your IP address, the requested resource and standard connection information to the server providing that content.
Those servers are operated by third parties and their own privacy policies may apply.
AudioMode may analyse publicly available metadata associated with a link in order to identify a compatible podcast or independent audio source.
This can include information such as public titles, podcast names, publishers, dates, durations, artwork and publicly available feed information.
AudioMode may compare this information with public podcast directories or feeds to determine whether a reliable match exists.
AudioMode does not use this process to bypass DRM, paywalls, login requirements or technological access restrictions.
AudioMode can work with links originating from third-party services and websites, including podcast directories, video platforms and podcast applications.
Examples may include Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Pocket Casts, YouTube and other public websites.
AudioMode does not require access to your personal account on those services.
Where possible, AudioMode uses publicly available metadata, public RSS feeds and directly accessible audio sources.
AudioMode does not bypass DRM, paywalls, access controls or other technological protections.
When you choose to download supported audio, the audio file is stored locally on your device.
AudioMode does not upload downloaded audio to AudioMode servers.
Removing a download deletes the local audio file while preserving the associated library item unless you choose to remove the item itself.
AudioMode uses an Apple App Group to allow the main app, its Share Extension and its Home Screen widgets to access the limited local information required to provide their features.
For example, a widget may use a local snapshot containing information such as:
the current item;
playback state;
artwork prepared by the app;
Up Next items;
Inbox counts.
This information remains on your device and is not transmitted to AudioMode servers for advertising or analytics.
When you share a supported link to AudioMode using the iOS Share Sheet, the Share Extension receives the information necessary to save that link to AudioMode.
The Share Extension is designed to complete quickly.
Additional metadata or compatible audio discovery may take place later when the main AudioMode app becomes active.
When you use AudioMode with CarPlay, the app uses your existing AudioMode library, queue and playback state to present a simplified audio interface in the vehicle.
CarPlay does not create a separate AudioMode account.
Using CarPlay does not cause AudioMode to create additional advertising profiles or tracking data.
Some CarPlay functionality is provided directly by Apple and the connected vehicle system.
AudioMode provides App Intents that can be used with Apple Shortcuts and, where supported by iOS, Siri.
These actions receive only the information needed to perform the requested AudioMode function.
Voice recognition, Siri interpretation and related Siri processing are provided by Apple and are subject to Apple’s own privacy practices.
Bookmarks and any notes you create are stored locally as part of your AudioMode data.
AudioMode does not use the content of bookmark notes for advertising or advertising analytics.
Playback position, completion status and listening preferences are used to provide features such as:
resume playback;
Up Next;
playback speed preferences;
completed status;
playback continuity.
They are not used for advertising.
AudioMode does not sell your personal information.
AudioMode does not share your private library, listening progress, favourites, bookmarks or queue with advertisers.
Third-party network providers and content hosts may receive the technical information required to provide requested feeds, metadata, artwork or audio.
AudioMode is not specifically directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children through an AudioMode account, because no AudioMode account is required.
Content available through third-party podcast feeds and websites is controlled by the respective publishers.
You can remove individual items, downloads, bookmarks and followed podcasts directly within AudioMode.
Removing content from AudioMode may also remove associated local information such as queue state, favourites, progress or downloaded files, depending on the action selected.
Deleting AudioMode from your device removes locally stored app data subject to the normal behaviour of iOS backups and restoration.
The AudioMode support pages and this Privacy Policy are hosted using Google Sites.
Google may use cookies or process website usage information when you visit these webpages under Google’s own terms and privacy policies.
This website activity is separate from the AudioMode app itself.
AudioMode does not receive your in-app listening history from Google Sites.
This Privacy Policy may be updated when AudioMode gains new features or when legal, technical or platform requirements change.
The latest version will always be available on this page.
