It is yet again another new year, a new season. As the years pass, I find that my ‘new year’ is more defined by entering and exiting the ‘seasons’ of life and not so much by the calendar year. Wherever you find yourself today, at the end, in the thick of, or at the beginning of a new season/year, one thing is true: Our Lord is the same yesterday, today and always.
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked
Or stand in the way that sinners take
Or sit in the company of mockers,
But whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
And who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in season
And whose leaf does not wither—
Whatever they do prospers.
My prayer for all of us, as we continue our journey of faith, is to keep our eyes on the Lord.
I pray that
We delight in Him.
We invest time to draw into a deeper relationship with Him through His Word and Prayer.
We might delight in His Word, in Him, His is the Word (John 1:1).
We would think of Him Day and Night.
We might grow in Him like the tree planted by the streams of water.
We may grow in the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
The fruit we yield is a blessing to our families, church, and community.
May all of it, above all things, be pleasing to Him.
With His Love and Joy
