Past Concerts

1st April 2023

We were very lucky to make our post-covid debut in the stunning sanctuary of St Machar's Cathedral with our 'Movie Matinee'.

This lunch time concert featured film music, including highlights from How To Train Your Dragon, along side some moments from Morricone.

This was an exceptional concert, a sell-out in fact! Just goes to show the AUCB is growing from strength to strength, and sets the expectations high for years to come.

11th December 2022

Following the success of the joint concert alongside the University of Aberdeen Symphony Orchestra (under the baton of Professor Chris Collins) last year, the decision was made to make it a tradition!

1st April 2022

We were very fortunate to once again be performing in the Music Hall, with easing social-distancing measures bringing a very appreciative audience.

Our ‘Dance Spectacular’ included an exciting programme of light-hearted music that ranged from samba to big band swing, and showcases some of the classics such as ‘Sing Sing Sing’, Shostakovich’s ‘Waltz No. 2’, as well as a flashback to the eighties! These groovy numbers were guaranteed to get everyone's toes tapping!

5th December 2021

Following the return to in-person rehearsals, the decision was made to perform a joint concert alongside the University of Aberdeen Symphony Orchestra (under the baton of Professor Chris Collins) in the beautiful setting of the Aberdeen Music Hall. The second half of the concert charted Aberdeen University Concert Band’s transcendent journey over the past two years, including music originally programmed for their cancelled concert in March 2020, works rehearsed virtually over lockdown, and music celebrating the present – including a brand new work by Clara-Jane Maunder and a James Bond medley to tie in with the latest film.

15th March 2020

Sadly this concert was cancelled the day before due to COVID-19. It was such a shame as the band put in so much effort, and was sounding amazing! (You will have to take my word for that)

23rd November 2019

Our November Concert 2019, titled, From East to West, was held in St Machar's Cathedral, as we showcased our hard work from the semester with our 'new' conductor, Sam Paul. Again, we were encouraged by the turn out and what a success it was!

31st March 2019

This concert was held at the Beach Ballroom, Aberdeen on the 31st March 2019. It was conducted by Mark James, a recent graduate of the RCS. The theme was music from Around the World - and it's fair to say it was a massive success.

You can find pictures from the concert here.

23rd November 2018

This concert was held in Butchart Recreation Hall on the 23rd November 2018 conducted by Eric Kidd, and it was a big success! We would like to thank all who came out to see us!

25th March 2018

This concert was our end of year concert in the Beach Ballroom, and what a success!

Thank you to Ashley Edwards for being our conductor this past year, and thank you to everyone for coming along!

Here are photos from the concert!

17th November 2017

Our November concert, Vesuvius, was filled with various different types of music, culminating in the highlight of the concert, Vesuvius by Frank Ticheli.

26th March 2017

Our first time performing in the Beach Ballroom! We had an amazing turn out, amazing music and it set the bar for future concerts, so of course we had to return the following year!

19th November 2016

Our first concert of 2016/17 was held in St Machar's Cathedral! It was a cold night in November but the music was fantastic!

28th November 2015

This concert was Around the World in 80 Minutes, and celebrated music from, well, across the globe!
