President's Welcome

Greetings,

My name is Jade Makaye Strickland, and I am honored to humbly serve as the President of the Atlanta University Center Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers for the 2026-2027 academic year. On behalf of our membership and Chapter Executive Board, I would like to offer you a warm welcome to the AUC Chapter website.

I am overjoyed to belong to such a diverse and talented group full of leaders, innovators, and “trouble makers of the best kind.” In this role, I plan to serve our chapter and our region through consistent programming, effective communication, and increased fundraising efforts. These initiatives will help us embody the NSBE mission and truly personalize NSBE’s goals to our chapter.

The AUC is such a unique assortment of individuals who are excelling academically and beginning their careers through research projects, internships, and attending conferences. Additionally, our Chapter embodies the message of the three schools present within the Atlanta University Center; Clark Atlanta University, Spelman College, and Morehouse College. Our collection of liberal arts institutions produces a diverse set of interdisciplinary engineers who combine their expertise, personal interests, and passion for service to improve our community.

As President of this Chapter, I plan to harbor the plethora of skills our chapter possess through corporate partnerships, technical workshops, and impactful community engagement. This upcoming year my board and I will prioritize making connections throughout the NSBE network, advance our chapter programming, raise funds to support our initiatives, communicate effectively within and beyond our organization, and yield positive results. The tenacity and cohesiveness of our Chapter will promote these goals and ultimately fulfill our mission to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community! Enjoy your day, and stay tuned to see all we plan to accomplish come to fruition.

Sincerely,

Jade Makaye Strickland
