Auckland's Changing Climate is written in an engaging and conversational style, which is a refreshing change from the scientific articles I would normally read to get a background on this sort of topic. I could read the book while sitting on the sofa with a cup of tea, without feeling like I was studying or working.
As someone who did not grow up in New Zealand, I found Auckland's Changing Climate extremely helpful to understand the past climate of Auckland, and the drivers and evidence for long term climatic change. As part of my work for example, I'd read about past flooding events at Auckland Zoo, and it was helpful to be able to read more about the context of high rainfall events in Auckland.
There are 'explainer boxes' with more detailed information around the science mentioned in the text. I happily read these as they were a great refresher, but it also means that you can read the text without worrying about detailed scientific nomenclature and equations interrupting the flow.
Thank you for an entertaining and informative read!
