Aubrey Poon

Welcome to my website. I am a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Econometrics at the University of Kent, UK. I am also an affiliated Researcher at Örebro University, Sweden, the Centre for Applied Macroeconomic Analysis (CAMA) at the Australian National University and the UK Economic Statistics Centre of Excellence (ESCoE). 

My academic path has taken me from biomedical science and commerce through to actuarial statistics and economics. I began with a combined Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting, Finance & Economics) and Bachelor of Biomedical Science from the University of Notre Dame Australia, before completing a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) at the University of Western Australia. I then moved to the Australian National University, where I completed a Master of Actuarial Statistics and Master of Economics, followed by a PhD in Economics in 2017. 

My primary research focus is in Applied Macroeconometrics. I am particularly interested in Bayesian estimation, with a range of focus on mixed-frequency methods, non-linear state-space models, quantile regression techniques, and various other macroeconomic modelling techniques. My work has also been mentioned in the Economist and the New York Times.
