This privacy policy explains what data the Atypical Bookmarks Chrome extension ("the extension," "we," "our") accesses, how it is stored, and — most importantly — what we do not do with it.
Summary
We do not collect, transmit, sell, or have access to any of your data. Everything you create with this extension — project names, text notes, voice recordings, and saved URLs — stays on your own device, inside your own Chrome browser profile.
What data the extension handles
When you use the extension to create a "project," it stores:
The project/topic name you type
The text note you type
A voice recording you make (saved as audio data)
Up to 10 URLs you add
Where this data is stored
All of the above is stored using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. This means:
Data is saved only on your device, inside your Chrome browser profile.
Data is not sent to us, to any server, or to any third party. The extension does not contain any network requests, analytics, tracking, or third-party libraries that transmit data.
We — the developer(s) of this extension — have no access, dashboard, or database through which we could view, retrieve, or be shown any project you create, including any voice recording or URL.
Data is not synced to a cloud account and is not linked to your identity, email, or Google account.
Microphone access
The extension requests microphone access solely to let you record a voice note when you explicitly click "Start Recording" inside the editor window. Recording only happens when you initiate it. The resulting audio is stored locally as described above and is never transmitted anywhere.
Data retention and deletion
Your data persists in your browser profile for as long as the extension remains installed.
You can delete an individual project at any time from within the extension.
Uninstalling the extension, or clearing your browser's extension data, permanently deletes all saved projects, including voice recordings. We cannot recover this data for you, since we never had a copy of it.
Permissions this extension requests, and why
Permission > Purpose
Storage > Save your projects (names, notes, URLs) locally.
UnlimitedStorage > Allow voice recordings to be stored without hitting Chrome's default storage size limit.
Microphone (via browser prompt) > Record voice notes, only when you click "Start Recording."
The extension requests no permission to read your browsing history, other tabs' content, or any other website data beyond opening the URLs you've explicitly saved when you choose to.
Children's privacy
This extension is not directed at children and is not intended to collect any data from anyone, including children, since it collects no data at all.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes (for example, if a future version adds an optional sync feature), we will update this document and the "Last updated" date above before that version is published.
