Atul Babbar is currently a Casual Academic in the Department of Engineering at La Trobe University, Bundoora Campus, Melbourne, Australia. In this capacity, he supervises advanced research and work-integrated learning projects, delivers engaging coursework, and bridges academic theory with real-world engineering challenges helping students become future-ready graduates.

In recognition of his exceptional research contributions, Atul has been listed in the Stanford University & Elsevier’s “World’s Top 2% Scientists” list for 2025, placing him among the most influential researchers globally.

Previously, Atul served as Deputy Dean (Research) at Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary University, India, where he played a pivotal role in advancing research initiatives and academic excellence.

He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, India. His research expertise spans advanced manufacturing, additive manufacturing (3D/4D printing), machining technologies, and biomaterials. He has authored over 100 scientific publications, including numerous book chapters and several internationally published books indexed in Web of Science, PubMed, and Scopus-indexed databases. His work has received over 2,200 citations with an h-index of 29, reflecting the significant global impact of his research. His innovation portfolio includes over 25 patents and design registrations, showcasing his dedication to advancing technological solutions and contributing valuable intellectual property to the field.

Atul serves as the lead editor for the book series “Innovations in Smart Manufacturing for Long-Term Development and Growth” published by Taylor & Francis and has been a guest editor for several high-impact academic journals. He frequently presents his research at prestigious global conferences and has mentored numerous postgraduate students, further fostering leadership in engineering education and research.

He is an active member of the IEEE and the Institution of Engineers, reflecting his sustained commitment to professional development and engagement with the global engineering community.
