Dr. Atul Babbar works as Deputy Dean (Research and development) and Assistant Professor at SGT University, Haryana, India. He has completed his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala, India. During his Ph.D., he worked on Neurosurgical Bone Grinding. Neurosurgical bone grinding is a procedure in which a part of the bone is removed using a mechanical grinding process. Then the passage is created to reach the tumor’s locations within the brain and spine, thus, treating the abnormal accumulation of the mass causing cancer. The critical concerns of the neurosurgeons for determining the real-time temperature, thermal tissue injury, and depth of thermogenesis and osteonecrosis have been addressed.
He has been teaching and guiding students in academics and the research field. His research interests include interdisciplinary research, particularly where engineering and medical research intersect. Apart from that, his research is focused on Medical Devices, Manufacturing, Hybrid Machining Processes, Biomedical and Additive Manufacturing, and not limited to that. He has authored more than 100 research articles in various International and National Web of Science (SCI/SCIE), and Scopus-indexed journals. His research papers have over 1700+ citations with an h-index-27 and i10 index of 48. He has 20 Published Indian patents and 04 Granted International patents. He is serving as a Guest Editor for various reputed Journals indexed in the Web of Science, PubMed, and Scopus databases. He is also serving as a Book Series Editor for Taylor & Francis Publishers. He has reviewed research articles for various peer-reviewed Web of Science and Scopus-indexed journals. He has published many international books and book chapters in multiple databases. He is an Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers (AMIE), India, and a Professional Member of the Association for Computing Machinery.
