Patriotism

Schools held assemblies that built pride in Australia’s contribution to the war. Songs and hymns encouraged patriotism to Great Britain and the British Empire.

Empire Day had particular significance in 1915 being the first since the landing of Australian troops at Gallipoli. Children dressed as Australian soldiers and nurses.
