District inspectors published photographs in the NSW Public Instruction Gazette and The Education Gazette of lessons and activities they had seen during their inspections of schools. These provided suggestions on ways they could teach their students about the war.
The model military camp below replicated the bell tents and infrasture of military training camps in Australia and Egypt. The main training camp in NSW was the Liverpool Military Camp in south-western Sydney.
The NSW Public Instruction Gazette published to August 1915 was renamed The Education Gazette from September 1915. The gazettes, a type of journal or magazine, were the main form of communication by the NSW Department of Education to their teachers.
