Reading With The Rabbits is a vibrant youth theatre initiative designed to nurture young performers and inspire a lifelong love of literacy within the community. The program provides a safe, inclusive, and imaginative space where participants of all ages can explore, experiment, and grow.
Our program has two parts:
Tween & Teen Performers – the readers and actors who bring stories to life.
Community Story Hours – interactive, donation-based performances for families and young children.
'Tween and teen actors perform and shine. Participants showcase their character work, voice acting, and stage presence before a live audience—each bringing a beloved picture book to life through their own creative lens. Our young performers also:
Engage audiences with ensemble songs and movement pieces
Lead participants in interactive theatre games
Build confidence, teamwork, and communication skills in a supportive environment
Reading With The Rabbits celebrates imagination and inclusion, empowering every performer to find their unique voice on and off the stage.
Our Community Story Hours are free and donation-based, open to families and readers of all ages! Each event features entertainment, creativity, and opportunities for connection.
Storytime Performances – ’Tween and teen actors perform lively readings of favorite children’s books.
Themed Crafts – Hands-on activities make each storytime a memorable experience.
Meet Our Bunnies – Our gentle rabbits demonstrate their “listening ears,” showing little ones how to be great audience members.
Photo Opportunities – With parental permission, we capture the joy of reading and community moments together.
About Reading with the Rabbits🐰:
Reading with the Rabbits was originally started by an 11-year-old to support animals at a local nonprofit. It has grown into a beautiful vehicle celebrating independent authors, local bookstores, childhood literacy, and young actors, as well as various animal charities.
“It’s fun to create multiple characters."
“I loved being in the spotlight. I may not look like a main character, but I’ve got more talent than villager number six.”
“ It was fun being able to perform. Between school and sports, I don’t have much time for rehearsals.”
“I love the bunnies !!!”
