Auditions for They Kiss will be held July 25th
Atomic Theatre is excited to announce auditions for They Kiss, a musical play written by Ken Crow. We are seeking five actors for singing roles. All levels of experience are welcome. Please note that the character descriptions below suggest genders, but performers of all genders are welcome to audition. Actors will receive a $100 stipend.
Character Descriptions
Sharod: Has worked for the state for several years but does not find it to be very fulfilling. She has adapted her life to her monotonous job and is recovering from a relationship that left her reluctant to make new commitments, even though she is lonely. She purchases a Christmas tree from a local tree lot in the hope that the right tree will brighten her outlook and help her to find a new beginning.
Adam: Nice guy who is a Christmas tree farmer. He longs to move to the big city to fulfill his early career hopes. He has 3 brothers, Pontius, Abednego, and Tom.
Vickie: Has her own house cleaning business. She has a spry sense of humor and is protective of her long-term friend Sharod, who suffers trauma from a relationship that went bad.
Pontius: A charming know-it-all who works at his family’s Christmas tree farm with his brother, Adam. He likes people and enjoys “pontificating” his vast knowledge of everything.
Officer Tobias Flagstone: Small-town police officer who operates by the rules and wants everyone in his community to be safe. He has difficulty finding friends and is lonely.
Synopsis
Sharod, a lonely state employee trapped in routine, visits a local Christmas tree lot hoping to make herself and her abode feel less empty for the holidays. She meets Adam, a Christmas tree farmer desperate to escape the very small-town life that Sharod craves. A snowstorm finds them together, stuck with a chaotic cast of quirky characters, including a blunt truth-teller and a painfully serious police officer. What begins as an inconvenience becomes an unexpected chance to reflect, laugh, confess, and explore what the holidays and friendship mean to them.
