The central goal of my teaching and mentoring is to instill wonder and confidence by emphasizing what we do not yet understand, rather than only orating what is already known.
Focusing on basic phenomena that we cannot yet reliably predict or explain creates space to convey core biological knowledge while preserving independent, critical thinking, a prerequisite for sustained innovation in science.
Across all levels, courses are organized around approximately 10 learning goals, with 3 to 4 class sessions dedicated to each goal. Developing skills for critical thought and efficient communication is central in every course.
Semester: Spring and Fall

Semester: Spring
Offered: Odd years (2023, 2025, etc.)
A graduate-level course integrating ecological and evolutionary theory, with emphasis on their interaction and application to contemporary biological questions.
