Honorably Discharged: Getting Kicked Out of The Polymathic Scholar's Honors Program

Yeah, you read that right. I was booted from the very reason I chose to come to UT Austin:

The Polymathic Scholars Honors Program.

Because of the way I was wired, I got into the program. By the same thread of my wiring, I was kicked out.

This page was one that I had up long before I got kicked out. I keep it unchanged as a memorable keepsake of what once was. When I see the blank "2025" section, I used to grieve a little, but I know now that this simply is another piece of my journey.

Overall, it is healing to see how far I have come.

It may have been fate that my "athitiya" puzzle piece is in the center of the polymath puzzle. Perhaps I could stir growth and change within the rigidity of the program.

Dear Cortni,

a writing piece: "Dear Cortni,"

This writing piece is addressed to my former honors advisor, who had unbeknowingsly become a big part of my hurt and healing journey. This letter is an expression of the emotions I felt on my journey, in their purest form- from malice and hatred to forgiveness and peace.

It likely was not her intention to make me feel this way- I argue that most people who do hurt never intend to.

But, I was hurt.

So then, how can hurt ones heal?

For me, I write. For a fact I know that she wouldn't chase me down to help me heal. That is something I must do myself.

My healing is no one's responsibility but my own.

A polymath is a person of wide-ranging knowledge and learning.

Well, I can't say I know much about much at all... but I do know that I LOVE being a part of something greater than myself, which is why I joined the Polymath Honors Program!

I have a diverse circuit of interests ranging from how to chop tomatoes aesthetically to American Sign Language to science, and I feel honored every single day to be part of CNS Honors with so many bright minds!
